# Baseball and softball data imports

Use this guide for GameChanger records on baseball and softball player or team workspaces.

  ProspectHQ never needs a GameChanger password. Export or capture records only from an account you are authorized to access.

## Choose the correct destination

| Source | Import it as | Where to manage it |
| -------------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------- |
| Completed-game box-score PDF | One game | Player **Games** or team **Game records** |
| Player Stats-page screenshot with dated rows | Game-by-game player data | Player **Games** |
| Team statistics CSV | Roster plus aggregate season totals | Team **Roster** |
| Season screenshot, supported PDF, or CSV | Season/tournament totals | Player **Season / tournament totals** |
| Fielding — stats by position | Season total by position | Player **Season / tournament totals** |

Baseball tournaments are a series of games, so combined tournament totals belong with season totals. Dated rows from the GameChanger player Stats page are game-by-game records.

## Import player game data

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Games">
    Open the player, choose **Manage Player → Games**, and start the GameChanger completed-game or screenshot workflow.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the table type">
    Select the source shown in GameChanger: **Hitting**, **Hitting — advanced**, **Pitching**, **Pitching — advanced**, or the matching fielding table.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose files and preview">
    Add the official PDF or screenshots. Confirm every detected date, opponent, team, score, and statistic.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Resolve matching questions">
    If two games occurred on one date, use the opponent and team to choose the correct game. A truncated opponent can be matched to an existing game when the preview makes the relationship clear.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review duplicates and import">
    Import new records, or intentionally update an existing game when the new source contains corrections. Blank imported columns should not replace known values.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Import many team games

From **Team → Game records**, the batch importer can accept multiple official box-score PDFs and retain one confirmed player mapping across the batch. Where shown, a batch can contain up to 126 games.

Before importing:

1. Review game dates, opponents, and scores.
2. Use suggested player matches as a starting point.
3. Correct every uncertain mapping.
4. Choose to import only new games when duplicates are detected, or deliberately overwrite the matching records.
5. Spot-check several games and players after completion.

## Import a roster and season totals

Open **Team → Roster → Import GameChanger roster and season CSV**. Upload the official team statistics CSV, preview the rows, and map each GameChanger identity to an existing player, a new player, or **Skip**.

The CSV contains aggregate season totals. It does not replace the game-by-game detail needed for per-game trends.

## Correct imported records

Use **Game-by-game records and import management** to edit game details, edit player statistics separately, move an import to another team, map a retained identity, or remove an incorrect import and its linked statistics.

<Warning>
  Removing an import can remove linked player data. Confirm the source, team, games, and affected athletes before continuing.
