> Create players manually or import a roster and season data from GameChanger.

# Add players to a team

Open the organization, select **Teams**, open the team, and choose **Roster** from the team management menu.

## Add players manually

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Create or add player">
    Select **Create or add player** in the Team roster section.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter player details">
    Add the player name, jersey number, positions, and invitation email when available.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Review invitation behavior">
    If a new athlete email is provided, ProspectHQ can send the player invitation. A player can still be created without an email and invited later.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save the roster">
    ProspectHQ connects an existing exact-match profile when appropriate without overwriting its established email or sending an unnecessary second invitation.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Creating a roster player and granting management access are separate actions. Use team member invitations for coaches and managers.
</Note>

## Add players from GameChanger

GameChanger team roster and season data use an official team statistics CSV export.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Export the CSV">
    In GameChanger, open the team's statistics area and export the team statistics CSV using an authorized staff account.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the roster import">
    In ProspectHQ, open **Roster → Import GameChanger roster and season CSV**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Choose the file and preview">
    Upload the CSV and select **Preview GameChanger import**. ProspectHQ does not ask for or store a GameChanger password.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Map every row">
    For each GameChanger player, choose an existing ProspectHQ player, create a new player, or skip the row. Review suggested matches instead of accepting them blindly.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Import selected players and stats">
    Confirm the mappings and complete the import. Re-importing a later export can update mapped records, but always review duplicate warnings.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Players already in ProspectHQ

Use the roster tools to connect an existing organization player. If the player is controlled by an athlete or guardian outside the organization, the appropriate invitation and approval workflow may be required.

## Active roster status

Only players marked active for the team are eligible to appear on that team's public roster. Removing or deactivating a roster membership does not automatically delete the player's long-term profile.

## Common problems

  <Accordion title="The player already has an account">
    Do not replace the athlete or guardian email from the roster form. Connect the existing player and use the established invitation or membership controls.

  <Accordion title="The player does not appear publicly">
