Removing duplicate seasons

Duplicate seasons usually happen when the same GameChanger season is imported more than once, or when a season file was uploaded before an updated export replaced it. Removing the extras keeps the team page and every affected player’s profile showing a single, accurate season record.
Only organization owners, administrators, and coaches with team management permissions can remove an import from Import Management.

Remove a duplicate season

Open the team

From your organization, choose Teams and open the team that owns the duplicate season.

Open Import Management

Scroll to the Import Management area on the team page. Each row lists an imported GameChanger game or season, the date it was imported, and the number of linked stat rows.

Identify the duplicate

Compare the season label, date range, and stat counts across rows. The row you want to keep should have the most complete data and the most recent import date. Any older season with the same label or overlapping games is the duplicate.

Reassign instead of remove (optional)

If the duplicate actually belongs to another team, use Reassign to team on that row and choose the destination team. This moves the import and its stats without deleting anything.

Remove the duplicate

On the duplicate row, select Remove import.

Confirm removal

Check Confirm that you want to remove this import and submit. ProspectHQ removes the GameChanger import and every stat row that came from it.

Verify the team and player pages

Refresh the team page and open a couple of affected player profiles. The season should now appear once, and player game logs should no longer show duplicated games.

What gets removed

Removing a season import deletes:
  • The GameChanger import record from Import Management
  • All player-game stat rows that were created from that import
  • Any team-level season totals sourced from that import
Removing an import does not:
  • Delete players from the roster
  • Remove other imports, manual stat entries, or performance sessions
  • Change anything in GameChanger
Removal cannot be undone. If you remove the wrong import, you will need to re-upload the original file to restore the stats.

Prevent future duplicates

Import after each game

Export the official box score after each completed game so seasons build up incrementally instead of being re-imported as full-season files.

Use the duplicate handler

When ProspectHQ flags possible duplicates during an import, choose Import only new games to skip already-imported games, or Overwrite to replace them.
