Practice sessions: TestFlight guide
This guide covers the 1.0.2 TestFlight preview. Build 9 adds the recovery and upload-preflight improvements below; build 8 has continuous recording without those improvements. Install only the build your TestFlight group provides and check Account for the version/build. External availability depends on Apple’s approval and your group’s assigned builds. These native changes are not in App Store version 1.0.1.
Test a practice recording
- Sign in with your own invited account and choose an authorized baseball or golf athlete.
- Tap the large Record Video button. Use one athlete, a stable rear camera and good light; keep feet, head and the complete motion visible.
- Record one to five minutes, then finish. Keep the app open while it suggests and analyzes clips.
- Check every suggested swing. Remove warm-ups, adjust boundaries, add missed swings, and review the body-tracking overlay. Suggested clips are not confirmed ball-contact events.
- Confirm the activity date, time and time zone. For imports, verify when the practice actually happened. Add equipment and drill information when known.
- Save selected swings together. Each saved clip is one video and one observation in the session. The full recording stays on the iPhone.
- Open the saved session on the player profile. Use the inline player for body tracking; iOS full-screen playback may show only the clean recording.
Record more in this session adds a recording to the same session. A recent recording can prompt a continuation choice, but the app never merges separate practices just because their dates match.
Improvements in build 9
Build 9 uses the matching ProspectHQ backend release for these improvements:
- Home → Continue a practice recording and Activity → Practice recordings on this iPhone, filtered to the current account and currently authorized athletes.
- A Before you upload screen with selected/new clip counts, available video slots and storage, and the server-resolved public/private audience.
- A separate Record video without analysis option. It records footage; it does not automatically split swings or attach body-tracking data.
- Parent / Guardian onboarding and Already have an account? Sign in.
- A larger single Body tracking player with Original and Compare options, collapsible session measurements, and progressively loaded sessions.
Frequently asked questions
Can I close the app while it analyzes or uploads?
Keep it open. Finished practice recordings and draft progress survive a relaunch, but analysis and transfers are foreground work—not background uploads. In build 9, open Activity → Practice recordings on this iPhone or Home → Continue a practice recording to resume. In build 8, reopen the athlete’s training-session screen. Ordinary single-file uploads and Share Sheet transfers do not have the same saved-draft recovery.
What happens if storage is full?
Every clip uses one video slot and its file size counts toward storage. Select fewer clips or free space in the existing library. Unfinished clips remain local. Build 9’s Before you upload screen checks selected/new clip counts and bytes before transfer; the server still checks capacity again while saving. If this check fails, keep the draft and retry—an unavailable check is not confirmation that space is available.
Are these videos public?
Training clips follow the athlete’s persistent video-sharing setting. Public access requires a public profile, a shared Performance snapshot, and enabled training-video sharing. The full practice original is not automatically uploaded. Later changes to the athlete’s settings affect existing clips too.
Build 9 shows the current public/private audience in Before you upload. Its sharing-settings link opens the athlete’s Public profile controls. Review the audience before confirming; returning from settings refreshes the check.
Can I record a video without body tracking?
Yes. In build 9, choose Record video without analysis from the upload screen. This records an ordinary silent video and does not split swings, produce pose measurements, or use practice-draft recovery. Recording does not grant access to an athlete you cannot manage.
Does a higher confidence percentage mean a better swing?
No. Confidence and pose coverage describe tracking quality. Camera-plane angles and timing estimates are not measured ball speed, bat/club speed, 3D mechanics, injury risk or a swing-quality score. Do not compare a camera estimate with a radar or sensor measurement as if they were equivalent.
Why is my local recording missing after changing accounts?
Drafts belong to the account, organization and athlete that created them. Sign back in to the owner account and refresh athlete access. Another account cannot see or upload that owner’s local drafts. A finished recording is required for recovery; force-quitting during camera capture may leave no usable recording.
Give useful beta feedback
Include the app version/build, device model, iOS version, sport/viewpoint, recording length, expected swings, suggested clips, missed/extra clips, review time and the stage where a failure occurred. Report whether retry finished without duplicates. Do not send passwords, recovery codes, unrelated player information or youth footage without appropriate consent.
This is a usability and reliability pilot. Detection accuracy has not been established by simulator tests.
